The second album by the Belgian band Turpentine Valley is a renewed acquaintance with the muscular post-metal of the threesome from Zulte. But it is not just a brute force that is poured out on us, if you listen more closely you will also discover the finely stringed shadows between the brutal riffs. It is precisely these subtle additions that provide the contrast and sometimes serve as an extra dimension in the compositions.
It is also often these dreamy guitar melodies that meander through the brutal sludge-like bass lines and provide bright spots. At other times, Turpentine Valley's music is best described as brutal and dark. It should be clear that Alder has become a varied album on which there is much to discover and above all to enjoy.
