In 2017, the debut album Peternoster by the German band MMTH, also known as Mammoth, from Aurich was released. MMTH immediately shows a quite mature and unique sound here. The elements unmistakably come from post-rock and post-metal, but the East Frisians put their own spin on every song. Paternoster has therefore not become your average instrumental post-rock album. It earned the band good reviews and the music was even compared to bands such as Russian Circles, Caspian, Neurosis and Explosions In The Sky. Certainly not the least in the genre. The comparisons are also not without reason, because one moment you are knee deep in an impenetrable swamp, while the next song looks out into the world as ethereal and clear as crystal. The great thing is that Paternoster effortlessly brings these contradictions together and the sum of the parts is the house style of MMTH.
