If you say blackgaze, you will undoubtedly say Alcest too. But don't let the part black mislead you, because it regularly rubs against that genre, but rarely ends up in it. The vast majority of the album consists of compelling shoegaze, on which the vocals often have a contrasting effect. Alcest is the band around Stéphane Paut, aka Neige, and he takes you into his dream world and memories. Kodama is Japanese for "free spirit" and that title could not have become more catchy, because this album really takes you outside of yourself for a while.
