One of the best kept secrets of 2020 is undoubtedly Carved Into The Sun's self-titled debut album. This solo project remained under the radar for a long time, but was eventually recognized by connoisseurs as a must-have album. The four tracks on this album contain elements of shoegaze and post-metal, combined with ambient soundscapes. All this is the work of multi-instrumentalist Eric Reifinger. More than average attention has been paid to everything, the sound is clear and subtle and that subtlety also applies to the drums. You might not believe that the drums come from a computer, but it is. The melodies are convincing and alternate beautifully with the heavier passages.
