The band Still Motions surprised in 2020 with their great debut album Mirrors. After the first pressing, the second pressing was also sold out in no time. As of June 24, 2022, the Phoenix, Arizona-based post-rock quartet has released a second album that will certainly not disappoint fans of the debut album. While Mirrors was largely written by the two band founders Thomas Brenneman and Chris Julian, Syn∙the∙sis was clearly composed by the entire band. This gives each instrument more space within the compositions and that only benefits the music of Still Motions. A good example of this are the thriving bass lines of bassist Gigi Zimmer in the song Agnosis. Together with the title track, these are the gems of this album. With Syn∙the∙sis Still Motions shows that they have grown as a band and that is quite impressive, since the debut album was already of a pretty high level.
