After four years of writing, touring, and lineup changes, the Belgian post-metal group AUFHEBUNG returns with a new album.
With Luchtbegrafenis (released via dunk!records), the band enters a new, mature phase in their creative process. On this second full-length album, the group explores the duality between life and death, and growth and decay, viewed through a ritual lens. The fleeting vulnerability of existence is hereby placed directly opposite the inevitability of the end. Across six layered tracks, the themes evolve from mass consumption and ecocide to technological dominance and religion.
The album is simultaneously unsparing and fragile. It forms a rich tapestry of influences from sludge, doom, post-metal, and crust punk, subtly complemented by elements from Eastern European classical music.
