Allthough A River Crossing is often pushed into the post-rock genre, probably because their music is mainly instrumental, its real strength lies in the strong vocals. No boring lyrics or annoying screamos, but great big daring choruses with challenging melodies. It's bold, but it fits great with the overall sound of the songs. The songs provide an uplifting atmosphere, or even a kind of pleasant melancholy. Musically this band from Lüzern has found a way to combine post elements with alternative/indie rock, all forged together into a recognizable sound. It's basically impossible to compare this band to other bands simply because they've created a niche for themselves. Although this niche will be found somewhere at the crossroads of Long Distance Calling, Coastlands, Russian Circles and Foo Fighters.
