hubris. – The one above

The One Above is the fourth full-length album by this Swiss formation, which left an indelible impression on the visitors of Dunkfestival 2022. The energy splashed off the stage and whipped up the room with their groovy mix of post-rock and metal. Musicwise, hubris. (note the spelling: without a capital letter and with a dot!) is comparable, without compromising the band, with a mix between Long Distance Calling, Sigur Ros, This Will Destroy You, Leech and Jacob. In other words, instrumental atmospheric post-rock with metal influences.

But there is more than just that, because the music is written with a story in mind. The album tells in four parts about the ancient Greeks and their relationship with Plato. The band from Fribourg is able to turn these stories into music, as they already proved on their previous album Metempsychosis. For example, the twelve assignments of Heracles were worked out on this. On The One Above, the band goes one step further and presents us with four masterpieces, in which the melody and the characteristic groove again compete for the attention of the listener. Fans of melodic instrumental rock music will certainly appreciate this album.

The One Above will be released on February 10, 2023. The physical albums will be available from March 2023 .
